Alexei Ratmansky: »24 Préludes« (Arne Vandervelde, Maria Yakovleva, Marcos Menha, Alexey Popov)

»Begegnungen« Promo

Alexei Ratmansky is a contemporary dance maker who knows how to stimulate the forms and aesthetics of classical ballet with a light hand, great versatility and immense musicality. His »24 Préludes« are a »ballet of mood«, in which eight dancers display the entire emotional palette of a variety of relationships in a thrilling manner. In his world premiere »lux umbra« Andrey Kaydanovskiy allows two principles to collide: reality and fantasy, concrete and abstract – an encounter that points in the direction of openness to a commissioned composition by Christoph Dienz. Beethoven’s 4th piano concerto is the source for the world premiere »In Sonne verwandelt« – music full of beauty, to which the choreography responds with pure dance, seeking harmony and connection.
