CityLab
An intergenerational project
CityLab (Citylabor) is a new participatory format of the Vienna State Opera's "Education & Outreach" department. In this intergenerational project and ensemble, theater enthusiasts from 12 to 99 years are invited to develop their own piece with Vienna State Opera artists and perform it in front of an audience.
This season, the opera Animal Farm is the inspiration for the joint creative process. Based on the themes of George Orwell's dystopian fable, the music of the opera and themes from your everyday-life, you will improvise, act, make music and experiment with different theatrical aesthetics, ways of making music and storytelling. The focus is on your creative ideas, topics that move you and your desire and courage to try something new together with the mixed-aged ensemble.
Kick-off and getting to know each other: Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Vienna State Opera.
Rehearsals: Block rehearsals, 1x weekend per month + additional rehearsals before the premiere.
Premiere: May 27, 2024
